CATL Launches New Enhanced Hybrid Battery, with Sodium-ion Battery Technology Applied" CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited) today unveiled its new Xiaoyao Super Hybrid Battery brand. Gao Huan, CTO of CATL's Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, introduced at the conference that the Xiaoyao Super Hybrid Battery is the world's first hybrid battery capable of achieving an all-electric range of over 400 kilometers, complemented by 4C ultra-fast charging technology that enables a driving range of 280 kilometers with just a ten-minute charge, surpassing the refueling speed of most pure electric vehicles with ranges exceeding 600 kilometers in the market. In low-temperature scenarios, CATL has successfully integrated sodium-ion battery technology into the super hybrid battery, pioneering the lithium-sodium AB battery system integration technology, allowing the battery to discharge even at temperatures below minus 40 degrees Celsius.

Hive Energy Decides to Suspend the Construction of Two Battery Factory Projects in Germany with a Total Investment Cost of up to RMB 30 Billion" Domestic power battery enterprise Hive Energy has decided to suspend the construction of its two battery factory projects in Germany, and there is no timeline for resumption of work at present. Multiple insiders confirmed that the investment cost of Hive Energy's two factories in Germany amounted to RMB 30 billion. Among them, one factory is a battery module and pack assembly plant located in Saarland, Germany. This project was announced in November 2020 with a designed capacity of 24 gigawatt-hours (GWh) and a total investment of 2 billion euros, originally scheduled for completion in mid-2024. The other is a factory announced in September 2022 with an annual production capacity of 16 GWh battery cells, located in Brandenburg, Germany. This is also Hive Energy's first overseas battery cell factory, originally planned to commence production in 2025.

[SMM Daily Commentary: Lithium Carbonate Prices Fall on October 24]
The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index price stood at 73,152 yuan/ton, down 354 yuan/ton from the previous working day. For battery-grade lithium carbonate, prices ranged from 71,650 to 74,950 yuan/ton, with an average price of 73,300 yuan/ton, a decrease of 350 yuan/ton from the previous working day. Industrial-grade lithium carbonate prices ranged from 68,650 to 69,650 yuan/ton, averaging 69,150 yuan/ton, also down 350 yuan/ton from the previous working day. The transaction price center of the lithium carbonate spot market continued to shift downwards. Upstream lithium salt factories still maintained a strong stance on maintaining prices; downstream material factories, however, are currently cautious and holding off on building inventory for November. Although downstream demand in October is expected to remain relatively optimistic, downstream material factories are not strongly inclined to build inventory due to the current lithium carbonate inventory levels. It is expected that lithium carbonate spot prices will continue to trend downwards in the near future.

With an estimated investment of 1 billion yuan, the project will construct 3GWh/year lithium (sodium) ion battery production facilities and basic process configurations for energy storage, along with corresponding supporting facilities. The total land area used for this project is approximately 97 acres, with a total construction area of approximately 75,000 square meters.

【Jinhua, Zhejiang: Subsidies Based on Equipment Investment! Up to 18%! Additional 2% Subsidies for Smart Photovoltaics and New Energy Storage】On October 22, the Jinhua Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology issued a notice on the Implementation Measures for the Subsidies of Intelligent Transformation Funds for Industrial Enterprises at the Municipal Level in Jinhua City (2024 Edition) (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Measures").

The Implementation Measures stipulate that industrial investment projects will be subsidized based on categories and tiers. For projects with annual equipment investment ranging from 3 million yuan (inclusive) to 20 million yuan (inclusive), 20 million yuan to 50 million yuan (inclusive), and above 50 million yuan, subsidies will be granted at 10%, 15%, and 18% of the equipment investment, respectively. For projects included in the municipal-level key industrial chain development program, an additional 2% to 6% subsidy will be provided.

[Aurora: Spain's Battery Energy Storage Project Reserve Reaches 11GW] Consulting firm Aurora stated on Tuesday that Spain's battery project reserve has reached 11GW, with 6.5GW already obtaining grid connection permits. The energy storage projects will assist Spain in coping with the growing production capacity of intermittent renewable energy. In situations where there is excess production and prices are often negative, Spain is forced to cut production capacity. Christina Rentell, a senior researcher at Aurora, said in a webinar that based on the public funding conditions they have obtained, it is expected that approximately 900MW of battery capacity will be installed by 2026.
