Against the backdrop of easing China-US trade friction, the tariff buffer period is expected to be extended again, leading to further strength in today's session, with the high point reaching 12,870 yuan/mt. In the spot market, despite the continuous surge in SS futures, the reaction in the spot market was relatively limited. Traders generally reported that downstream end-users' purchasing sentiment remained low, primarily making just-in-time procurement, and were reserved about price increases. High-priced cargoes were difficult to transact, and transactions still relied on discounted, low-priced cargoes. The current market remains in a state of loose supply and weak demand. Although there are positive factors from a macro perspective, their volatility is significant, and downstream wait-and-see sentiment is strong. Additionally, recent loosening in cost-side prices has made industry participants more cautious about future expectations. In the futures market, the most-traded contract 2512 fluctuated weakly. [National Vehicle Trade-In Subsidy Applications Exceed 10 Million in 2025]
According to the Ministry of Commerce, as of October 22, applications for the 2025 vehicle trade-in subsidy exceeded 10 million, including over 3.4 million for vehicle retirement and renewal and over 6.6 million for replacement updates. The trade-in policy has effectively promoted green transformation. NEVs accounted for 57.2% of the vehicles involved in the 2025 trade-in program, driving a 24.4% YoY increase in retail sales of passenger NEVs from January to September, with a market penetration rate of 52.1%. In September alone, the penetration rate reached 57.8%, marking the seventh consecutive month of growth. Meanwhile, resource recycling levels continued to improve. In the first three quarters of this year, the recycling volume of retired vehicles reached 7.345 million units, up 47.9% YoY. According to relevant agency estimates, this is expected to recover approximately 7.1 million mt of steel, 920,000 mt of aluminum, and 930,000 mt of plastics, reducing carbon emissions by over 21 million mt.
